“What’s the greatest lesson a woman should learn? That since day one, she’s already had everything she needs within herself. It’s the world that convinced her she did not”
– Rupi Kaur
Hi I’m Stef,
Inspiring women to glow from the inside out is at the heart of what I do. I grew up in Bristol and whilst I never took to academics at school, sport was where I came alive. I loved playing as part of a team, working together, supporting each other – creating a community built on trust and friendship. I went on to play hockey for the Welsh International Team for a number of years; something to this day that I’m still so proud of.
Eventually I stopped playing, I stopped doing any exercise at all – somewhere along the way I lost myself. I tried so many different career paths; I became a qualified make-up artist, I worked as a nanny, a hostess, a sales assistant. Nothing fit; nothing made me feel as alive as when I was playing sport and moving my body. As a result, I felt lost. What was my purpose? What was I going to do with my life? My wellbeing suffered hugely and I knew I had to do something.
I settled on a personal training course; which re-ignited my love for exercise and movement. I started training clients and at the same time created an Instagram account as a way to share my knowledge and passion for exercise and moving your body. I wanted to make exercise and working out feel accessible; I wanted to show women that any movement is good movement: you don’t need to punish your body – working out can, and should, feel good and be fun!
I never expected my community to grow into what it is today, but along the way I’ve realised that my passion for movement and exercise doesn’t lie just within myself. It lies in training and motivating others to see their potential, to feel good in themselves, to feel empowered. I love my little corner of the internet – my days are so much brighter as a result of all the wonderful souls that make up this community.
When I look back at my journey so far – every step feels like it steered me one step closer to the creation of GLOW. All my experience with training clients, engaging with my community, reigniting my own love for exercise – demonstrated to me how vital it was to create an App that was grounded in positive, sustainable habits and founded on empowerment through education. The name GLOW was born out of a desire to shift the focus away from what women look like and towards how they feel; to inspire women to see exercise and nutrition as more than just a means to an end.
So that’s my story so far – I hope you’ll stick around for the ride and let me help you to glow from the inside out.
